RESET
In the 20 seconds immediately after a mistake – a mispass, a goal conceded, a missed chance.
Does one of these situations fit more precisely?
When you use this
In the 20 seconds immediately after a mistake – a mispass, a goal conceded, a missed chance.
Briefly explained
Five clear steps: briefly acknowledge the mistake, breathe out, gesture, cue word, move on. It's not the mistake that costs you the game, but the time afterwards when you're not fully playing. Example: lost the ball – breathe out, adjust shirt, 'next one', sprint back on defence.
Options for your position
Goalkeeper
I just conceded a goal.
Get the ball, tap the net once, look towards the middle. Then step back to the line.
Thrower
I missed the 7-metre throw.
Deliberately take your time on the way back. One word for defence: "stand".
Back court
I lost the ball.
Sprint immediately instead of watching. The sprint is your reset.
Wing
I missed an open chance.
High five the next person, then look at the goalkeeper. Scene over.
All
I got a two-minute suspension.
On the bench: 3× long exhales, then set a task for re-entry.
All
I was substituted.
First drink, then breathe, then look. Evaluate at the earliest after the game.
All
The coach shouted at me.
